PREGNANCY TESTS

Getting clear answers early can make all the difference. We provide lab-grade pregnancy testing in a private, supportive setting so you can move forward in your decision with confidence.

Lab-grade tests detect even low levels of the pregnancy hormone (hCG). This can make them more sensitive and reliable than many at-home tests, especially in early pregnancy. While no test is 100% perfect, lab-grade testing significantly reduces the chance of user error and improves early detection.

HOW SOON AFTER SEX SHOULD I TAKE A TEST?

Timing matters when it comes to accuracy.

  • Too early (within a few days after sex): Your body may not have produced enough hCG yet, leading to a false negative.

  • Best time to test: About 10–14 days after sex or after a missed period for the most reliable result.

  • Irregular cycles or uncertainty: Testing can still be helpful, and repeat testing may be recommended.

If you’re unsure, we can help determine the best time to test based on your situation.

IS AN ULTRASOUND NEEDED BEFORE AN ABORTION?

If your test is positive, an ultrasound provides important medical details that a pregnancy test alone cannot.

An ultrasound can:

  • Confirm the pregnancy is located in the uterus (the abortion pill cannot be taken if the pregnancy is ectopic)

  • Estimate how far along you are (which can determine your options)

  • Check for a detectable heartbeat

This information is important before making any decision, including abortion, as it helps ensure your health and safety and clarifies what options may be available to you.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY APPOINTMENT?

Your visit is simple and designed with your comfort in mind:

  • A quick, confidential urine pregnancy test at the clinic

  • Results available during your visit

  • Time to ask questions and talk through next steps, and pregnancy options

If your test is positive, we can also discuss additional services, like a cost-free ultrasound, to give you more information about your pregnancy.
