What is the abortion pill? How does the abortion pill work?

The abortion pill (medication abortion) uses two drugs to end an early pregnancy. One stops the pregnancy from continuing by cutting off nutrients to the embryo or fetus, and the other causes contractions and bleeding to expel the embryo or fetus and empty the uterus.

Is it safe to order abortion pills online via telehealth?

Due to a lack of safety measures, the FDA does not recommend ordering abortion pills online. Your first steps are to first confirm the location of the pregnancy (if it's in the uterus) and rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

Is everyone eligible for abortion pills? What is the timeline you can take them?

No. There are many restrictions, including health history, the type of pregnancy, how far along you are, and more, that can impact options and a potential timeline. The abortion pill is only FDA-approved through 10 weeks. An ultrasound can confirm the location of the pregnancy, estimate your due date, and verify if the pregnancy is viable, which can determine eligibility.

How long do you bleed after taking the abortion pill? Can you take one pill and stop?
